Dhrol

Dhrol is a taluk headquarters in Jamnagar district of in the western state of India, Gujarat . It is situated 13 km. to the south west of Latipur. It is well connected by road with nearby towns of Jodiya, Paddhari and Kalavad. Jamnagar Airport and the Jamnagar Railway Station are the nearest airport and railway station. It is located between 22.57° North latitude and 70.42° East longitude at a height of 26 metres (85 feet) above mean sea level. According to the 2001 census report, Dhrol had a population of 23,618 inhabitants. Males constitute 49% of the population and females constitute 51% of the population. In Dhrol, 12% of the population is less than six years of age. Dhrol has an average literacy rate of 69%, which is higher than the national average literacy rate of 59.5%. The male literacy rate is 74% and, female literacy rate is 64%.

Dhrol state was formerly Western India (Kathiwar) States Agency: merged in Saurashtra, now in Gujarat State , area of state was 732 Sq Km (71 Villages ), Population of state was 28,000 in 1931.Privy purse of state on the time of accession (15Th Feb 1948 ) was Rs.110,000.
